Final Divergent Moving Painting Going Instantly To T.V.
Once poised to accept the YA adaption corn from the departing The Hunger Games, things aren’t looking practiced the franchise. While the master copy together with its sequel, Insurgent, took inward an impressive $286 together with $297 1 one one thousand thousand respectively at the worldwide box office, the tertiary painting (which similar whatever practiced YA franchise was alone the offset component of the terminal book), Allegiant, crashed together with burned amongst a $179.2 1 one one thousand thousand haul, a hiccup that had a serious knock on outcome on the inward pre-production Ascendent. Already suffering from losing Insurgent together with Allegiant managing director Robert Schwentke a calendar month earlier the tertiary movie’s release, production was laid to commence this Summer amongst The Age of Adeline’s Lee Toland Krieger, but forthwith according to Variety, Lionsgate are changing tack together with handing the painting over to their idiot box subdivision to complete the storey every bit a t.v. movie, every bit good every bit introducing a novel shape of characters that could headline a possible t.v. series.
Movie franchises finding novel life on t.v. is null new, only await at Buff the Vampire Slayer or Netflix’s electrical flow Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments (which came almost subsequently the offset movie’s box component numbers saw production on the sequel scrapped weeks into filming), but to my heed something similar this has never happened before. It’s really early on stages at the moment, together with nosotros don’t fifty-fifty know if Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller, together with the remainder of the cast's contracts volition fifty-fifty encompass them doing a t.v. movie, specially if a approximately other production arm takes over. Most people chalk the franchise’s spend upwards downwards to major deviations to the source material, amongst fans of the master copy majority serial non really happy amongst the storey going inward really dissimilar direction than what they were used to. Will this novel evolution address that together with movement to retcon the storey the movie’s told together with thus far inward something to a greater extent than palatable for the fanbase? Either way, this is an interesting plough of events, together with I am really interested to meet what this agency for YA adaptions going forward.
